Hey there! HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to all you Chinese people! =) How has your holiday been for the non-Chinese? For me, it has been a great time with family and catching up with rest / sleep! =p … at the same time visiting relatives and getting some angpows. Hehehe… Above all, I can never thank God enough to be living in Malaysia with the different races and still able to live in peace with each other – racial harmony!

OK, back to PGs.. For those of you still trying to figure out what PGs all about? No worries.

WHAT is Marketplace PG? PG (Power Group / Prayer Group) is an hour of an exciting and meaningful lunch together with Christians (not necessary from ACTS Church) and non-Christians friends seasoned with laughter, prayer and value-adding conversations. PG is initiated from the Young Working Adults Ministry from ACTS Church (LIFE). LIFE exists to reach and build a generation of Young Working Adults (YWA) that thrive and find purpose in all that they do, reflecting the DNA and Culture of ACTS Church through Friendship, Marketplace, Relationships, Community using various winning expressions powered by YWA themselves for YWA. We have an exciting LIFE blog at

http://life.theactschurch.org

Do check it out!

Just wanna excite you with some great news on PGs! We would be having PGs every Wednesdays as usual BUT we’re going to do it differently this time. Instead of meeting up for lunch, Cyberjaya PG is thinking of having some intentional light discussions that we all could engaged in.

Our topic for this week would be YOGA! Many Christians today from the West to the East – including Malaysia, has given Yoga a try and said that it has really improved their health to some extend.

What is YOGA?

Yoga is defined as a “mystic discipline by which one seeks to achieve liberation of the self, and union with the supreme spirit, through intense concentration, deep meditation, and practices involving prescribed postures, controlled breathing, and so forth” (Webster’s New World Dictionary/1980).

Yoga is a scientific system of physical and mental practices that originated in India more than three thousand years ago. Its purpose is to help each one of us achieve our highest potential and to experience enduring health and happiness. With Yoga, we can extend our healthy, productive years far beyond the accepted norm and, at the same time, improve the quality of our lives. (Excerpted from Chapter Three of our book, Yoga for the Special Child)

With all that benefits about Yoga.. As a Christian, is it wrong to take YOGA classes? What about taking Yoga as a form of exercise? What do you think? Share with us your views.

And we will definitely discuss this issue at the next PG this Wednesday :: 4 Feb 2009 :: Arif Restaurant, Street Mall :: 12.30 – 1.30pm ::

As you know that we’ll be discussing about Yoga and you know of a friend (Christian / Non-Christian / backslidden Christians) who is working in Cyberjaya, do invite them to join our PG this Wednesday! Do reply over this email on your views about Yoga till we meet this Wednesday!

Let’s start rolling your opinions in! =)

Spot reduction??

Sad to say its another myth. So gurls..If you are looking to only loose certain area of fat on your body..it doesn’t work.. Guys too ..

Questions often asked…. (if you asked this before…)

i) How do I reduce fat under my arms… – the part where your whole triceps area wobbles when you wave goodbye

ii) How do I loose the tummy fat/ abdominal fat..- Some call this prosperity…It is in fact a side investment from late suppers and also called beer belly / love handles

iii)My legs are fat…What do I do?? -Thunder thighs, Well basically this is how one defines it..some appreciate flamingo long model legs and some appreciate muscular thighs. Most people tend to think that only model legs are nice and if there are muscles on it ..it’s fat as well..

iv)My face is fat..I look like a turkey… – Well some people tend to store fat under their chin area

v)My rear and hips how do I reduce it?? – Well some people are naturally pear shape..So first thing to do is accept your body shape and work on making it a leaner pear shape body and a smaller pear shape body.Increasing upper body workout can change your bodytype slightly.

Conclusion.

If you the statements above have run through your head before..Well there’s no such thing as spot reduction. What can be recommended is to accept your body type and work with what we were blessed with.Accepting who we are and not questioning why we have certain weak areas that store fat.

For instance being pear shape is actually a blessing in disguise .Women of such curves are not prone to heart attacks or cardiovascular diseases.

Again the main point is to stay healthy and SERVE GOD… :D

p.s: Next topic to come shall be flat abs..For those of you who are looking for flat and fab abs to fit into that pants or dress you always wanted or going to the beach…Any workouts you guys and gals wanna work on??

Till then God Bless….

Staying fit and healthy is a lifestyle not a temporary goal. So hehe..if you are reading and thinking what is the fastest way to weight lost.. You are bound to gain the weight you lost as fast as you lost it and probably MORE.

How do you lose weight..?? Basically you gotta play with the equilibrium formula. It is more about staying healthy then losing weight.

Input (What you consume) = Output ( Activities carried out) : Hence you will only maintain your current weight

So unless you can go on a diet of only drinking meal replacement drinks or weight loss formula for the rest of your life, you will be able to maintain your ideal weight. Impossible in Malaysia for sure.Besides by dieting you will only reduce your metabolism rate. Ladies!!! Don’t fear lifting weights at the gym!!! Muscle increases your ability to burn calories and also helps prevent against osteoporosis.

Always include cardio workouts (running, jogging, swimming) , toning (weights) and stretching as part of your workout routine.

How often do you do it…well it depends on your goal and your bodytype

What do you want and what do you need.

Whatever it is…It is not just about looking good it is about FEELING GREAT TOO!!
